  • LRS Architects have realized the design concept for Vetsource, a pet pharmaceutical company located in Portland, Oregon.

A fast growing company in the pet pharmaceutical industry, Vetsource wanted an office space to both instill a sense of professionalism in its clients and provide a fun, collaborative atmosphere for its employees. Rather than finding a midpoint between these two extremes, the team drew inspiration from Vetsource branding, designing an entire workplace around a gradient motif.

Vetsource needed additional workspaces for future growth, as well as 13 offices, 17 meeting rooms, 14 collaboration areas, a break room and wellness room, and, perhaps most importantly, a dog playroom. Vetsource is a pet-friendly office and designers had to consider the needs of four-legged staff when planning. Some of the dog-friendly considerations include: a puncture-proof, easily cleanable benches and chairs; concrete flooring in all major traffic areas to prevent wear and tear from dog nails; workstations with gates to keep dogs separate from others when needed; and no casters on furniture to prevent rolling over puppy feet and tails.

Walls and sections of ceiling were removed during construction, opening the structure and creating an airy environment for clients and staff. Public facing and formal areas are defined with striking white tilework and rich wood cladding.

Moving toward office spaces, patterned green and gray carpeting fades in playful diagonal sections and the color palette becomes more vibrant. Each component folds into another, creating a workplace that authentically reflects the complexity and depth of the Vetsource brand.
