BNI (Bank Negara Indonesia) engaged the services of OSCA with the vision of creating an office environment that is in line with current workplace trends, namely an open concept office to facilitate open communication and collaboration among employees. The new office was envisioned to take the design concept up a notch without being over extravagant as this might be too jarring for our current clientele.

Our designer sought to enhance the retail and commercial mood of the office space through subtle hints and touches of the Indonesian culture. This was done to reinforce BNI’s position as a main player in the global market.

Since this is the company’s Singapore-based office, specific design elements and moods were also used to represent notable tourists attractions in the country. These were strategically inculcated into the space to provide the office with an urban Singaporean twist and to complement the overall mood of the space. The resulting design is an urban office landscape that represents the company in a local context without overpowering its global corporate identity.

In terms of office spaces, client-facing areas such as conference rooms were designed to exude a hospitable ambience. The main office area was planned to maximise the working space and to take advantage of natural lighting. Certain spaces were also designated as social areas to encourage interaction and collaboration between co-workers.

Overall, the new and improved office space emanates a more genial atmosphere in comparison to a more retail-like impression reflected in the previous office. The project was well-received by the management team at BNI’s headquarters, who intend to integrate the same design approach posited by OSCA into their upcoming branches in the Asia-Pacific region.
