  • GZ OfficeXperience with Heembouw Architecten collaborated to design the Hordijk Verpakkingen offices, a plastic fabrication company, located in Zaandam, Netherlands.

Together with the client Heembouw designed an optimal layout for their production process with a focus on short walkways and efficient routing. The recycling process of the residual material is included: all the residual material is now fully reused.

The office and production location is characterized by a robust design with a cantilevered volume on the south-east corner of the building. The bright red color in combination with the dark volume accentuates the lines and enables a strong connection with the interior. By placing the large glass surfaces back in the facade at the location of the south facade, a wide overhang and a balcony with a beautiful view over the adjacent North Sea Canal is created. Energetic benefits are thus combined with the opportunity to get some fresh air and also enjoy the great views.

For the interior design the goal was to visually connect the office space with the production facility.

This especially becomes apparent in the flooring and the common breakout space, which appeals to both office staff and machine-operators.
