B/S/H/ Offices – Brussels

The design for the B/S/H/ offices was inspired by the historical remains of the trains and tracks once harbored in the former Brussels freight station, a bold space for the household appliance company.

During the summer, B/S/H/ employees moved to their brand new offices on the Thurn & Taxis site. The offices are spread over three floors in one of the twelve wooden buildings, under the centennial vaults of the former freight station.

Captif Office Architects embraced this style for the furnishing of the offices and even enlarged this on the first floor of the building by suggesting enclosed spaces in the interior that are reminiscent of the containers of a freight train. The meeting rooms are housed there. In this way, more intimate spaces were created, because the space is more than 30 meters wide and 55 meters long and in some places the ceiling is 7 meters high.

Different “tracks” in floor covering lead employees and visitors alike to differently defined zones in the office environment, ranging from concentration/quiet areas to meeting zones and even the cafeteria.

What started as a bold design in a fantastic building in a historic location, eventually also became an example for a post-corona office environment and a back-to-the-office approach.
