    Celebrating a vibrant workplace culture
Unity is a young, dynamic and growing tech company, with offices in Brighton on the south coast of England. It’s the brains behind the world’s most widely used real-time 3D development platform, which provides a comprehensive set of software solutions to create and operate content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, consoles, and augmented and virtual reality devices.

The company was previously spread out across several buildings but had recently outgrown them. They needed a large, single office that would encourage collaboration, connection and creativity, that reflected their culture and the city of Brighton, and that impressed and inspired both staff and clients.

Working closely with Unity, we designed a bespoke, four-storey workspace that creates compelling experiences for work and socialisation throughout. Front of house features a tech suite with a virtual reality lounge, games room, training area, large boardroom, and video conferencing room. Communal social and refreshment areas on each floor function as informal breakout spaces to encourage mingling.

Flexibility is vital. Meetings areas come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit different needs. Furniture can be rearranged to adapt spaces for various uses. There are calmer workstation areas in muted colours for people who need to get their heads down and focus. The rhythm, ambience and design detail all contribute to Unity’s way of working.

We brought the spirit of Brighton indoors too, with colourful outsize murals by local artists like Mister Phil and Lois O’Hara. The sense of sociability and camaraderie is rounded off by the appropriately named Seagulls Rest, the office bar.
