LEO A DALY designed the International Harvester Mississippi Valley Credit Union headquarters as a cornerstone in the community of Moline, Illinois.

LEO A DALY was selected to provide A/E design services for the new International Harvester Mississippi Valley Credit Union corporate headquarters facility in Moline, Illinois. This project will consolidate International Harvester’s corporate operations into one building located on eight acres on the southern bank of the Mississippi River. It also will strengthen IH’s presence within the community, reinforcing the brand as one of the Quad Cities’ oldest and largest credit unions.

The design takes cues from the surrounding eastern Iowa landscape. Rough-cut stone walls are reminiscent of the company’s agricultural beginnings and help convey a sense of working the earth. The white curtain wall material conjures images of rural farmhouses and barns, but at the same time, alludes to more modern structures dotting the landscape. The window and curtain wall patterns mimic some of the agricultural patterns found in the surrounding farmland.

The Mississippi River has carved its influence into the land here and its presence is felt in the design of the building as well. The lobby at the entrance of the building helps create a direct pathway to the river, and the glass used on the exterior windows is influenced by the color of the water. The threestory atrium also offers sweeping views of the river. These design decisions are meant to connect the river, land and structure with a meaningful, coherent design that is both a nod to the past and a glimpse of the future.
