  • Schott Design was engaged by Scotlynn to design the transportation company’s growth-oriented headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida.

After re-designing the transportation company’s Indianapolis offices, Schott Design teamed up with Scotlynn USA for the duo’s most ambitious project to date – a 60,000 square foot, $17 million headquarters located in Fort Myers, Florida.

Scotlynn USA Division, specializing in distribution and transportation logistics for perishable foods, has experienced exponential growth over the past decade. Their first year in business saw management of 1,800 truck shipments whereas today’s numbers average 4,000 shipments a week. In response to continued growth, Scotlynn’s president and founder, Ryan Carter, realized that a carefully and thoughtfully designed headquarters was imperative. After successfully establishing an Indiana office together, Carter brought on Schott Design to lead the interiors, furniture, and overall design aesthetic portions of the new project.

With monumental presence alongside Interstate 75, the Fort Myers campus makes its mark on southern Florida’s physical landscape as well as its corporate office community. A modern, industrial design infuses every area, reflecting the nature of Scotlynn’s business and its youthful, energetic employee culture. Inclusion of bold color and pattern recalls branding efforts established during the Indianapolis project and ensures a cohesive experience for Floridians and Hoosiers alike.

Scotlynn’s leadership team recognized the value of investing in their employees’ mental health and rewarding their hard work and as such placed special focus on amenities. Corridors framed by illuminated steel trellises guide the way to a fully equipped fitness center complete with free weights, stair climbing machine, various cardio equipment, and shower rooms. Down the hall, an in-house chef prepares made-to-order meals in the cafeteria. Upper floors are equipped with smaller food prep areas, complete with cold-brew coffee on tap, acting as a perfect collaboration zone for employees to gather and refuel throughout the workday. A recreation lounge outfitted with video gaming, ping pong and pool tables connects team members while allowing for active resting and recharging when needed. Expansive outdoor spaces complete with a full basketball court, Bermuda grass exercise field, furnished balcony, and covered entertaining space round out the amenities by maximizing usable area and taking advantage of the steadfast climate.

In addition to amenity spaces, extra thought and monetary investment was placed on lighting concepts – both natural and man-made. Extensive controls and window shades maximize daylight and manage heat gain for the entirety of the building’s perimeter while creative and varied use of LED lighting throughout the interiors further ensure a characteristically sunny experience for this team’s Florida-based headquarters.
