  • Gehri completed the Fenaco & Steffen-Ris offices with a natural color palette and material selection in Bätterkinden, Swittzerland.

At the production site in Bätterkinden, a new, spectacular working environment has been created above the existing production facility after two sites were merged. The outside reference and the green flat roof create an atmosphere as if one were working outside — this approach stands for the company which is dedicated to the storage, preparation and logistics of fruits, vegetables and potatoes. Bringing the teams together in one location and the inspiring environment are a positive change for the corporate culture and the employer branding.

The two barrel roofs on a load-bearing wooden structure house several teams from fenaco Landesprodukte, which operates the logistics centre for potatoes and vegetables at the existing site. The inviting working landscape includes an office area as well as a gallery floor with meeting rooms and a relaxation room. The result is an inspiring environment that expresses appreciation for the employees.

The office with 860 m2 of space and a terrace is located above the production halls
Thanks to the remote working option, it was possible to reduce the floor space, as the sales team, for example, usually works outside the company. We have supplemented the around 30 workstations with meeting rooms, phone and meeting booths, a quiet zone and informal areas that create a more relaxed office landscape.

    The design
The timeless materialisation is characterised by natural colours and the staging of the room volumes with the supporting structure in wood — cool, calm and relaxed, so that concentrated work is also possible in the team office without further ado. We have paid special attention to lighting, acoustics and ergonomics in order to promote user satisfaction.

    Our assignment
The question was: What are the possible uses? Here we showed different possibilities and asked for direct feedback from the users. Our task was to develop the design and the interior architecture of the entire working environment; in doing so, we were in close contact with the project managers, whom we accompanied closely until the completion of the project. The overall conceptual development of the interiors, the layout and the utilisation concept were part of our mandate. To ensure that the employees also feel at home in their working environment, we attached great importance to a harmonious lighting concept and a stringent, timeless materialisation and colour concept for the façade and the interiors.
