The California-based company is known for designing equally timeless and forward-thinking workspaces that are meant to feel like home but work like an office. The focus on creating workspaces close to home that feel like home was instrumental in the success of their first location in the Marina District of San Francisco, which prospered throughout the pandemic with local professionals looking to no longer work under the same roof they sleep. The convenience, combined with a sophisticated environment, earned AvantSpace a reputation as a hub for locally or remotely established businesses, Venture Capital firms, creative entrepreneurs, and start-ups alike.

As the need for remote work alternatives close to people’s homes became more apparent, AvantSpace decided to design their new San Rafael location to bridge the gap between home and office environments even more.

Architecture led by AvantSpace co-founder, Josh Breuner, the workspace has an open-concept layout that pairs rustic textures with hints of mid-century modern details, fostering a welcoming space for collaboration and connection. Private offices, community-centric tables, and designated desks are centered around a vaulted wood ceiling with skylights that flood the two-story space with natural light to inspire and bring the outside in, especially during Zoom-filled days.

The workspace cohesively layers warm, neutral colors with subtle earth tones that embody a professional and sophisticated workspace, while simultaneously creating a luxe atmosphere for working professionals to enjoy outside of work. Kelly Bartley of Kelly Bartley Interiors was the design lead who brought AvantSpace’s vision to life — a space that blurs the lines between work and play.
