The new Vocus Sydney headquarters located in the heart of North Sydney is the first workplace of its kind, representing the culmination of all our Future of Work learnings over the past 2 years. Being our first opportunity to apply these lessons to a full workplace design, this project has resulted in an exciting new space that connects the Vocus team to the company’s core values and each other.
Traditional density metrics have been discarded for a truly tailored solution. This is achieved by using the Vocus workplace attendance policy to determine what the space requires, rather than what past metrics would have suggested. The extra space gained by reducing essential workstations has been redeployed into work-enabled, social and collaboration spaces.
This led to an unprecedented number of workpoint options, with over a dozen distinct ways to work within the fitout. Employees can be certain that when they arrive at the workplace, they will be greeted with the spaces and tools they need to work in the style that fits them. Futuristic instruments such as portable power have been incorporated to maximise flexibility and activate locations that were previously inert for much of the day.
The design aesthetic deliberately contradicts modern notions of an understated and neutral approach. The workplace is vivid and energic, highlighting colour, texture, and volume. The electric blue staircase acts as a visual centre piece while connecting the floors, promoting movement and interaction.
Doing things differently has led to the creation of a revolutionary workplace for Vocus that truly redefines modern workplace design.
