  • STACK Interiors designed the Rayonier Matariki Forests offices with natural light and intentional elements of nature in Auckland, New Zealand.

Continuing from previous successful fitouts, STACK Interiors completed the third workplace project for Rayonier Matariki Forests by crafting a space that embodies the essence of Rayonier’s corporate identity. The workplace is designed to support the transition to a fully agile working model, featuring a diverse range of work settings and neighbourhoods that cater to various work styles. With a 12-year lease period in mind, the space is built for adaptability and transformation, ensuring it remains relevant and functional for years to come.

Central to the design is the extensive use of timber in wall cladding, furniture, and flooring finishes. This not only infuses warmth into the workspace but also pays tribute to Rayonier’s core business in forestry. The carpet layout further enhances this connection, with carpet tiles transitioning from a rich green to a calming blue, symbolising the journey from lush forests to New Zealand’s picturesque waterways. This subtle colour shift also represents the different teams and departments within Rayonier, acknowledging the company’s export-oriented nature.

The colour palette throughout the workspace is predominantly neutral and natural, with any additional hues introduced through furniture and accessories. This approach ensures a timeless quality to the design, allowing the space to evolve and adapt over time while future-proofing the investment in the new workplace. Additionally, the incorporation of the planting throughout the space is a focal point of the design, pulling the natural environment into the office. As these plants grow and flourish, they reflect the ongoing development of Rayonier and their role as custodians of New Zealand’s forests.
