Made For. transformed Jardan’s head office and warehouse in Melbourne with a concept inspired by the “Golden Hour,” showcasing innovative, purposeful design supporting all facets of the business.
Made For, an architecture, interiors, and strategy studio, are proud to unveil the transformation of Jardan’s new head office and warehouse, surpassing 16,000sqm in Scoresby. Against the backdrop of the treasured Dandenong Ranges, this project emerges as a testament to Jardan’s innovation and excellence in design.
Founded in 1987, Jardan has been owned and operated since 1997 by brothers Nick and Michael Garnham, with Nick’s wife Renee Garnham as Creative Director. Poised for unprecedented growth, and with an eye to expand into the US market as discussed recently with the Australian Financial Review, Jardan’s commitment to responsible all-Australian manufacturing echoes in their newly expanded 16,000sqm factory.
The team at Made For were quickly engaged after connecting with owners Nick and Renee, and in true Made For fashion, kicked things off with an extensive strategy led discovery workshop. An emotive and feeling-led – not palette or finishes dominated – concept emerged; “Golden Hour”. Inspired by the company’s profound appreciation for the Australian way of life and the abundant natural light of the building, the concept materialized across the three-storey former Tupperware factory. The design plays intimately with the notion of “golden hour” and the evolving phases of light throughout the day. As you ascend through the building, transitioning from the showroom on the ground floor to task-specific work areas and, finally, to the indoor-outdoor lunch and social spaces, the distinct stages of light are felt, effectively capturing the essence of golden hour across the whole space.
Made For’s work on the furniture brand’s new head office is not only dynamic and mesmerizing but is also purposefully built to support every facet of the business. Designing, ideating, prototyping, production, creative collaboration, and everything else required for the business to continue operating seamlessly, were meticulously considered and catered for in the design.
