NTS Offices – Bastia Umbra
D+A designed efficient and stylish industrial office spaces in Bastia Umbra, Italy within a tight 2-month deadline, focusing on quality, sustainability, ergonomics, lighting, acoustics, and functional compartments for NTS.
The project was conceived to meet urgent needs for space and equipment, related to technical activities of programming and creative activities of website design and management. The need to expand the office located in Assisi required an intensive search for properties that could respond to such needs. Through a careful analysis of the project specific functions and needs, we were able to define a spatial model to be used as a reference in our search for the right facility. The project tight deadlines required effective and fast planning as well as an extremely focused search for supplies and fixtures. Finally, site planning and supervision of operations were the success drivers of this project, which was completed in 2 months.
The need to streamline the investments, as the spaces were leased and therefore temporary, led to the creation of an industrial setting, where structural changes were kept to a minimum. Special care and research were instead devoted to the choice of light fixtures, furniture and seating, easily movable to other locations. A painstaking selection focused on quality, sustainability, and ergonomics. The absence of suspended ceilings and the on-sight utility systems required the installation of suspended and wall-mounted acoustic panels of high technical and aesthetic value.
Lighting and acoustic comfort are the common denominators of the whole space, which is divided into 4 main areas: reception, administrative and accounting area, technical and programming area, and break area.
The partitioning in compartments that can communicate but are also separate was guided by criteria of confidentiality and functionality.
Spaces for face-to-face or on-line meetings, training sessions, and individual work were distributed in the various areas of the headquarters and characterised by large windows with excellent sound insulation. In the large open space, a sound-proof booth was created to further ensure acoustic separation and visual communication.
Height-adjustable desks and ergonomic seating tangibly highlight the client’s concern for the well-being of their employees, who can change their posture in a variety of ways, during the day.
The selection of colours focused on shades of green and results in a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
NTS’s new operational spaces are based on a balanced design that respects the needs of demanding clients who pay attention to the quality and style of the work space, a key vehicle that communicates the company’s personality and philosophy.
