Louisville Bar Association Offices – Louisville
ID+A transformed the Louisville Bar Association’s office, preserving historic elements while maximizing natural light, collaboration, and member focus with versatile meeting spaces and brand-infused finishes.
The Louisville Bar Association is in the heart of Downtown Louisville, Kentucky and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and education of Louisville’s Lawyers. When the new Executive Director and CFO were considering a renovation, they hired ID+A, Inc. to help bring the needs and wants of their dedicated team and members to life.
Located in an office building suite that had once been the lobby of a local restaurant and hotel, the design team knew there would be historic elements to protect and other previous renovation elements to be carefully demolished. A century old plaster ceiling remains in what is now the main entrance and a collaborative lounge area of the member-focused space.
Careful consideration was given to ensure full-time team members would have access to natural light from the large historic windows, and glass fronts were integrated to ensure natural light would make it as far as possible into the space. The programming also called for all full-time team members to be located close to one another to ensure easy collaboration where the team had previously been spaced throughout the suite.
In addition to the needs of the staff members, the leadership team also wanted the space to be centered around the reason for the association – it’s members. A conference center was created with meeting spaces for all postures and seating accommodations ranging from two-person up to a seventy-five-person seminar room.
Special attention was paid to architectural, and furniture finishes to infuse the Bar’s new brand standards and logo throughout ranging from stripes on the walls to inset flooring accents and upholstery selections.
Additional amenity spaces include a wellness room, a phone booth, a catering kitchen, an employee kitchen, and clean storage in the basement for files and event furniture.
The Louisville Bar Association partnered with ID+A to provide comprehensive design services, glass fronts, and furniture specification and procurement. Schaefer General Contracting Services was LBA’s partner for general construction services and Unified Technologies provided IT/AV services.
