Paster Properties Offices – Minneapolis
Studio BV reimagined Paster Properties’ suburban office into a modern workspace in Minneapolis’ North Loop, focusing on creating communal and private areas while preserving the building’s historical elements.
The move to the North Loop in Minneapolis was a long time coming for Paster Properties. Studio BV worked on their previous office space in the suburbs, this move was meant to invigorate their team and bring them closer to their strategic partners.
They relocated their office to a building they owned in the north loop of Minneapolis. Being a mixed use building, the building is a brick and timber building that is over 100 years old.
The design challenges for the project was to convert the once residential penthouse loft into a modern office space. The building contains office space and a restaurant on level 1. The Previous use of the top floor of this building was for a residential penthouse.“The conversion of the residence to office meant adding in a lot of private spaces, more windows and more communal space,” said Betsy Vohs, Studio BV Founder and CEO. “The building features warm wood structures and high ceilings. Those were maximized by creating as much open space at the entry and middle of the building.” The offices take advantage of the exterior wall and brick facade.
Studio BV re-designed the bar from the previous office space and reconstructed it in this location and gave it new life. The bar and Douglas fir custom wall was rebuilt and reimagined as a defining element and screen in the gathering areas.
The space boasts a historical sign from one of the organization’s first buildings. The polychrome sign was designed by the French engineer who invented neon lighting- Georges Claude.
The custom art work is a mural created by a local artist Greg Gossel and it depicts key photos and space and memories from the family business. This mural is reminiscent of pop art style.
Overall the project is focused on creating spaces for gathering and connecting with partners. Moving to the North Loop has added vibrancy and helped shift their energy in the building and their business.
