  • Emil Eve’s workplace remodelling for leading independent production company Drama Republic delivers a flexible, hand-crafted office that feels more human-scale than corporate.

Known for their hit TV dramas including One Day and Dr Foster, the company’s warehouse office in Holborn required a full refurbishment to transform what was a busy cluttered space into a relaxed creative environment.

The brief included creating a variety of flexible work areas, from solo workstations for focused tasks to spaces to collaborate and comfortable meeting rooms. The welcoming lobby feels like a room in its own right, with a carefully calibrated timber structure delineating the space, its proportions neatly echoing the building’s original glass partitions.

The scheme features thoughtful details that evoke domestic interiors rather calling on standard office solutions – bespoke meeting and coffee tables, a mix of coloured glass and pendant lights, and painted datum joinery providing ample hidden storage space.

The mid-century colour scheme of warm greens, blues and oranges against white walls complements the natural wood used throughout, which includes sapele joinery and oak herringbone flooring. Construction and joinery are by Harbour Joinery Workshop, made in collaboration with Thomas Collier Studio.

The architects maximised the budget by repurposing existing furniture and features where possible – from repositioning glass panels to improve the layout, to reusing existing chairs and combining them with new the desks, all of which are free standing and easy to reconfigure.
