Dale Underwriting Partners Offices – London
Peldon Rose designed a modern, industry-inspired office interior for Dale Underwriting Partners in London’s historic 70 St Mary’s Axe, reflecting the company’s culture of inclusivity and innovation.
Dale Underwriting Partners (‘Dale’) are an independent underwriting business operating through Lloyd’s Syndicate 1729, offering insurance and reinsurance solutions worldwide. The business moves to the sixth floor of 70 St Mary’s Axe in the City of London’s Square Mile. This BREEAM certified landmark, developed by Nuveen Real Estate, is known for its distinctive, semi-elliptical form soaring 21 stories above the historical streets below.
Peldon Rose, alongside the client’s professional team BNP Paribas, were appointed to deliver an immersive office interior design. Characterised by a sleek and timeless aesthetic and dynamic spaces abundant in quality experiences for employees and clients, the result is a modern workplace underpinned by Dale’s ESG commitments, and its driven, inclusive culture.
Industry-inspired aesthetics
It was important to create a space where everyone is welcome, right from the start. The reception area creates a stunning and impactful first impression; and thereafter, a cared-for client experience with lounge seating in the waiting area, a stainless steel storage-planter filled with flourishing biophilia, and a fully serviced coffee bar, built from Corian. Concrete-effect tiles 1200mm x 1200mm and the exposed mechanical and electrical ceiling services further lend a hand to a sleek aesthetic that intentionally mirrors the Lloyd’s building which Dale are closely connected to, while retaining the 70 SMA existing architectural charm.“Broker booths” upholstered in a rich navy velvet tie in with a colour palette of greys and blacks, accented by pops of orange to reflect Dale’s branding. The pinnacle of this brand expression is the bespoke, slatted metal joinery wall integrated with Dale’s logo. The wall sits just outside of the lift lobbies to welcome employees and provide a semi-permeable privacy screen between visitors and employees.
Reflecting company culture
Dale wanted its new workplace to empower the business to live out its values of inclusivity, diversity, and entrepreneurship. Wellness was prioritised with planting throughout the office to purify the air. Open plan desking near to natural light creates opportunities for learning and entrepreneurship between teams, where every employee is heard, inspiration is sparked, and expertise is accessible to all.A large breakout space has premium seating arrangements and spectacular views of EC3’s landmark buildings, perfect for colleagues to socialise over lunch. This area is equipped with moveable furniture specified by Peldon Rose’s team, and AV systems to be used for everything from all-hands meetings in the morning, to lunch and learns or even evening drinks functions.
It’s the perfect example of versatile office interior design, and its ability to empower organisations to carry out exceptional business, every day.
