Accenture’s Montreal office design by Lemay combines innovation with local essence through functional and aesthetic elements, immersive branding, diverse spatial experiences, biophilic elements, and sustainability, fostering creativity and well-being.
The interior design of Accenture’s Montreal office strikes a fine balance between innovation and context befitting of a global tech company’s local embedment. Situated on the 15th floor of the Place Ville Marie’s (PVM) landmark cruciform tower, this 19,000-square-foot workplace echoes the city’s urban essence while maintaining the brand’s identity through both functionality and aesthetics—where subtle sophisticated details and moments of delight through playful and unexpected flourishes are intertwined.
Immersive branding defines this office and is as apparent as early on as the reception area. Here, a striking installation of 1,200 interactive trigonal prisms in company colours creates a feature wall which imbues the space with transparency and interconnectedness. Visually captivating, it invites natural light into the space, which enhances the open, inviting feel found throughout the office. Its interplay of light and movement is a quality which applies to the rest of the floor, and is subtly reminiscent of the forward momentum reflected in Accenture’s logo.
The workspace is designed for collaboration and creativity while maintaining a sense of absolute openness. Employees encounter a diversity of spatial experiences, from the relaxed ambiance of the café to the more structured meeting rooms, each carefully designed to be distinct yet complementary to one another. Comfortable seating, plush and sleek furnishings, and hanging gardens provide spaces for informal gatherings or quiet reflection, while the open hubs offer sweeping views of the city.
Notable features that hold the ability to evoke wonder punctuate the floor. The café area, for instance, bears a custom felt ceiling composed of domed indentations which capture I.M. Pei’s architectural designs for the PVM, while the floor’s tilework reflects the texture of its elevated public plaza. The meeting room intrigues with lighting and colouring creating the sense of floating above the urban landscape with imagery of clouds floating above a dusty horizon. Then there’s a pointillist skyline mural, moments of neon signage—together all these elements add moments of surprise that break the formality often associated with corporate interiors.
The office’s interiors also emphasize well-being and inclusivity. The integration of biophilic elements such as indoor gardens and abundant natural light reflect a commitment to health and productivity. Attention to details like curved corners in open areas soften the space, encouraging flow and reducing rigidity. Thoughtful textures and colours, adaptable to the changing needs of the office over time, add layers of warmth and comfort that underscore a hospitable nature. Furthermore, the office’s design prioritizes LEED certification, a consideration woven seamlessly into the space, so high standards of sustainability do not require any compromise on style or functionality.
