  • Now based in their brand-new commercial office in Bournemouth, Platinum Group comprises Platinum Recruitment Consultancy Ltd – one of the UKs leading employment agencies, and Platinum Components – a worldwide Supply Chain Management company.

Having already worked on another of their new landlord’s offices in our Glenigan project, we first engaged with Platinum after a recommendation. Having seen what we could do first hand, Platinum chose AXIS House to create their new 8000 sq ft work space. With the relocation came an opportunity for the business to level up their working environment with a real focus on collaboration and employee well-being.

Working closely with the directors, the design process involved lots of input as we used VR technology to help our clients to really visualise their new space. The initial site survey with a full team along with a full presentation portfolio helped all parties to understand how we could achieve such a stunning space while remaining within their budget.

    Solution
    Bringing the office to life
Having seen some of our previous projects, Platinum was keen to include biophilia within the design of their new space. Biophilic design breathes life into any project; adding greenery to the feature wall seen at the entrance and in the kitchen area achieved a truly vibrant feel. The addition of the fish tank not only further added to that feeling of living, breathing office space – but also served as the perfect partition between two break-out areas.

    Work hard, play hard
The break-out areas and communal spaces serve a dual purpose in Platinum’s new office. Having open areas to conduct team meetings, weekly catchups and training sessions was a necessity for the directors through-out the design process. The communal spaces not only offer the perfect place to conduct team meetings, but also encourage staff bonding. With areas to sit, unwind and even play table tennis – we brought the directors’ vision of having those relaxation communal areas to life.

    Accommodating hard work
While break-out areas are important, you can’t play table tennis all day. The desking area is capable of seating every member of staff, allowing everyone to get their heads down whenever they need to. With large windows running alongside, good levels of natural lighting allowed for reduced energy usage and increased levels of focus. The biophilic features surrounding the warm lighting within a room carefully designed with mutual tones and an open feel truly leaves a lasting impression on anyone who visits.

    The latest technology
Being an innovative company, supplying the latest hardware for a state-of-the-art office was essential. With digital desk booking, various display and presentation screens and an area designed specifically with the recording of their monthly podcase in mind, technology is incorporated into every corner of the space.

    Sustainability built
Of course, providing a new office in the most sustainable way was high on the list of priorities for both Platinum and AXIS House. Sustainability sourced materials like the ECONYL carpet tiles and ethically sourced timber helped us to minimise the environmental impact of the project.

The full fit-out took just over 6 weeks to complete. A strict deadline and a relatively small window in which to get the project completed was of course a challenge, but the result is another AXIS House project to be proud of.
