  • Workspace’s collaboration with A-Kruunu, a company that develops and rents housing, began when plans were made for an apartment building in Pasila, with new office space envisioned on the ground floor. Four years later, A-Kruunu’s staff moved into their new, comfortable office, conveniently located near excellent transport connections and services, marking the start of more flexible working practices.

Space and atmosphere – inspiration from the timeless beauty of nature
The impact of materials, acoustics, colors, and lighting on a space is significant and well-documented. Spatial design can positively affect overall well-being. A-Kruunu’s interior design story was inspired by the Finnish landscape – from the power of water, strong cliffs, trees, and waves, to the timeless beauty of nature.

The design was guided by biophilia, focusing on bringing elements of nature indoors. Natural materials, textures, colors, and organic shapes were used in surfaces and furniture. Lighting was designed to be adjustable to create different atmospheres, and the meeting rooms were named after elements of the Archipelago Sea.

“Treasures from the attic” and the circular economy approach
In the new office, A-Kruunu’s existing furniture was reused, alongside recycled materials, such as composite countertops and loose furniture made from recycled materials. Waste sorting was also carefully planned by evaluating the flow of people in the space and practical factors, such as reducing the work of cleaners and the number of trash bags. Waste bins were designed to be stylish elements, integrated into the overall visual aesthetic.

The most inspiring circular economy approach was found in the “Treasures of the attic” art campaign, developed in collaboration with A-Kruunu. Staff enthusiastically participated by exploring their own closets, storage spaces, and attics to uncover forgotten art treasures. The stories behind these artworks brought people closer together, allowing the office to be personalized and unique without significant investments.

From spatial design to a brand image renewal
The strong visual design of the office space led A-Kruunu to realize that their brand image and logo also needed updating. After further discussion, we decided to continue towards a more holistic visual makeover, moving from interior design to branding.

The result was a cohesive, fresh and timeless entity, now reflected in the new logo, social media presence and spatial identity of the new office.
