  • The office renovation project at the COMPANY’S headquarters in Petrignano di Assisi, Italy, was conceived by CEO Federico Malizia, to complete the implementation of the corporate identity developed over the past few years: from the product to communications, from showrooms to the facility spaces.

The intervention involved an area of 1600 sqm, on two levels, and includes the reception areas and the showrooms, technical and commercial offices, administration offices, and the executive office.

D+A, through a preliminary analysis of functions and workflows, has outlined a comprehensive space reorganisation project, in line with last-generation space-planning principles.

In a two-storey building, narrow and long, with the internal staircase and lift at its centre, the spaces develop through acoustic corridors, open-space work areas, closed executive offices, phone booths, and meeting rooms.

The new dynamics of internal relationships between employees, and external relationships with customers and partners, has brought to the creation of phone booths and small meeting rooms in every area, to be used for both in-person and on-line activities. Therefore, the four open spaces have been fitted with small, acoustically separated environments where one can make confidential calls or hold private meetings, thus ensuring efficiency in daily work.

The acoustic corridors have been designed as dynamic spaces, to allow people to make walking phone calls providing at the same time, serving as true sound buffers for the operational areas, thus ensuring a high level of acoustic comfort.

Great attention was paid to the designing of the building utilities, including electrical, thermal, and lighting systems, to give maximum flexibility to the layout. Home automation solutions and light sensors create the correct balance between natural and artificial light.

The preliminary analysis activities have enables us to clarified the information storage workload and the requirements for each workstation. Each worker can now work at height-adjustable stations, equipped with ergonomic seating, separated by lockers and storage units precisely designed to contain the actual volume of the documents in use.

The open, noisy workspaces, represented a challenge in terms of soundproofing, which was addressed using carpet, modular ceiling-mounted acoustic panels, micro-perforated wooden panels for meeting rooms, and high-absorption partition screens between workstations.

The aesthetic and colour choices aimed at creating neutral spaces, open to diversified colour combinations aligned with the evolving logic of the Corporate Image. Ciam’s distinctive yellow shade is displayed in the acoustic corridors, in break areas at the boundaries of operational spaces, and in the phone booths.

The natural green shade characterises every space, and has been added to increase comfort in areas where the employees spend most of their day.
