Aurora Studios and Anima Vitae Offices – Helsinki
Fyra’s design for Aurora Studios and Anima Vitae in Helsinki harmoniously blends creative workspace with artistic expression, featuring robust materials and vibrant colors while respecting the building’s architectural heritage.
Aurora Studios, a creative company financing, developing, producing and distributing high-quality film and TV drama across the Nordics and beyond, has settled into its new home in Helsinki’s Eira neighborhood. The space also serves as the home of the award-winning 3D animation studio Anima Vitae. Fyra took charge of the workplace design of the premises.
The vision was clear from the start: a welcoming, layered space with contrast and character. Respecting the architecture of the premises while incorporating existing furniture and art wherever possible formed the foundation of the design. To complete the setting, a selection of new works from the private collection of art collector Ari Tolppanen was added. The design decisions were closely tied to the architecture of the building, including robust surfaces, black doors, and glass walls. The uncovered concrete floor, with its rough texture contrasting with the bright color scheme, and the high ceilings with generous windows, further enhance the atmosphere.
Designed to accommodate a variety of events, the lounge space acts as the heart of the office. Bespoke dark-wood furniture anchors the interiors, while a palette of copper, rusty red, and deep blue add character. The functional aspects of the premises were carefully considered: an editing room, a light-adjustable room, and a flexible screening system with adaptable furniture in the lounge area were incorporated to support the company’s creative field of work.
