Neoplants Offices – Paris
Factory transformed a former shoe warehouse in Saint-Ouen into Neoplants’ vibrant new offices and laboratories, harmonizing innovative design with functionality to reflect the company’s commitment to well-being and collaboration.
Neoplants, founded in 2018 by Patrick Torbey and Lionel Mora, emerged from the vision of creating indoor plants capable of purifying the air we breathe. With Torbey’s expertise in synthetic biology and Mora’s experience at Google, Neoplants quickly became a leader in green tech. As the company grew rapidly, Neoplants turned to Factory to find its new workspace closer to Paris, combining both office and laboratory facilities.
This led them to a former shoe warehouse in Saint-Ouen, which needed significant renovation to become the ideal space. The new location, spanning 1,200 m², was transformed into a facility with laboratories, offices, and areas for team well-being.
A key aspect of the project was collaboration with an engineering firm to design the lab layout, ensuring it met the strict requirements for temperature, humidity, lighting, and safety standards. Despite green tech often overlooking office spaces as a marketing tool, Neoplants believed in creating functional yet attractive workspaces for their employees, investors, and broader ecosystem. The interior design included a spacious open-plan office under a vast glass roof, with terrazzo flooring, custom furniture, vintage pieces, and greenery, all reflecting Neoplants’ mission to enhance well-being through synthetic biology.
This new workspace became a crucial element in Neoplants’ branding and communication strategy. Visitors, including employees, journalists, clients, and investors, are given tours to showcase the company’s mission. The combination of a 700 m² lab space and a 500 m² open office area has fostered collaboration between R&D and operational teams, contributing to a unified, engaged workforce. The project has significantly impacted the company’s growth, with 95% employee satisfaction regarding the work environment.
