Hetero Drugs Corporate Office: A Workplace Designed for Transparency and Collaboration
Located in the heart of Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech district, the new corporate headquarters for Hetero Drugs reflects the company’s ethos of transparency, integrity, and innovation. As a global leader in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and generic formulations, Hetero Drugs sought a workplace that would foster collaboration while maintaining a refined, functional aesthetic. Designed with a focus on employee well-being and spatial efficiency, the office seamlessly integrates natural light, fluid spatial organization, and a warm material palette to create an environment that is both welcoming and productive. It’s designed to be a neutral backdrop where the employees are the forefront of the space. The 1,00,000 sq.ft. of office space spreads over 2 floors in an existing building.
The office is thoughtfully divided into departments, with meeting rooms acting as semi-transparent dividers. Workstations are placed near windows to maximize natural light and provide inspiring views. Manager cabins are centrally located with moderate privacy, ensuring connection to the team. Curvilinear meeting rooms enhance navigation and collaboration while reinforcing the company’s open culture. These design elements foster transparency and teamwork, encouraging seamless interactions across teams.
Curvilinear meeting rooms, designed as semi-transparent enclosures, serve as soft boundaries between different teams. This layout not only enhances ease of movement but also encourages interaction while maintaining distinct zones for focused work. The North and South wings of the office are further distinguished by dedicated breakout areas and pantries, fostering informal collaboration and relaxation. Phone booths, strategically placed near meeting zones, offer employees moments of privacy, with select booths providing stunning views of the adjacent lake.
In alignment with Hetero Drugs’ commitment to an open and interactive culture, the design eliminates solid partitions in favour of curvilinear glass enclosures. These elements maintain spatial fluidity while allowing for varying degrees of acoustic and visual separation.
The material palette is carefully curated to enhance a sense of warmth and comfort. Natural oak wood veneer, fluted textures, and muted neutral tones create a sophisticated yet understated backdrop, allowing the architecture and its occupants to take centre stage. The emphasis on a restrained colour scheme supports a calming and distraction-free workspace, aligning with the principles of biophilic design and employee well-being. Art plays an evolving role in the space, with blank canvases intentionally left for future curation. This approach allows the office to grow organically, reflecting the company’s journey over time rather than through a singular, static installation.
The cafeteria, designed without a false ceiling, features an expansive, voluminous atmosphere that serves multiple functions. Outfitted with a retractable projector screen and stackable seating, this space transforms seamlessly from a casual dining area into a town hall setting for company events and gatherings.
The natural light floods the office through its thoughtful planning reducing its dependency on artificial lighting that is controlled through automation. The brightly lit office is further softened and enhanced by a muted and warm natural material palette. The design integrates energy-efficient lighting, optimized HVAC systems, and locally sourced materials, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability. Additionally, access to natural ventilation and daylighting contributes to a healthier indoor environment, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and promoting employee productivity.
