  • Freeland: a new headquarters for a new collective
Freeland is a human resources service provider. The result of several acquisitions, the company is made up of entities that operated in different fields and were based in several cities in the Paris region.

The decision to bring all the teams together in a single headquarters was driven by the desire to give substance to the group. The founders felt the need to build a true collective, to create and strengthen a corporate culture. Moving was also an opportunity to kick-start a new dynamic.

ARCH.DESIGN assisted the company in the design and implementation of the new headquarters, a single 1,600 m² space in the iconic Cœur Défense tower. This comprehensive project was completed in a record time of less than five months.

A very tight schedule in a high-rise building
The schedule for vacating several sites is often complex to manage, and the time available to fit out the new workspaces was limited.

ARCH.DESIGN had barely five months to analyze and understand the requirements, design the spaces, budget and carry out the work, manage the furniture, ensure that any outstanding issues were resolved, and provide support in getting to grips with the new spaces.

As this was a high-rise building, regulatory constraints presented an additional challenge in an already very tight schedule.

The collective at the heart of the project
How can workspaces facilitate and encourage encounters, collaboration, and conviviality?

This ambition had to be taken into account in the design of the spaces.

As a result, most of the workspaces are open plan, and the few closed offices have transparent partitions. Team areas have been set up according to the desired interactions.

To promote conviviality, a generous central space was designed. It is used for lunch breaks but is also very popular at the end of the day.

Finally, to encourage encounters, several tea rooms have been set up on the floor, as well as cozy spaces that invite informal exchanges.

Frédéric Camus, co-founder, says: “The gamble has paid off.
