Arkham Projects Offices – Mérida
Arkham Projects’ offices in Mérida is an urban refuge that harmonizes nature and creativity, inviting collaboration while transforming architectural discovery into a vibrant, dynamic experience.
The Asylum, an urban refuge in the heart of Mérida, Yucatán, where every corner is a tangible representation of the passion and dedication of Arkham Projects. It’s not merely a building but a dialogue with nature, a breath amidst the city’s frantic pace, and a constant invitation to unravel its architectural secrets.
Its design unfolds as a story in three acts: The first beckons discovery, slowly revealing its spaces, each holding a surprise awaiting the visitor. The second act is an ode to nature; from the moment you cross its threshold, it embraces you with its greenery, accompanying you to the very last corner. The third act aims for more than just a workspace; it’s a haven for encounters, inspiration, and collaboration, an extension of the team that inhabits the space, ensuring that visitors too feel in a place where they can co-create.
The play of natural light with the trees on the main facade becomes a daily celebration, transforming the building into a living canvas that shifts with the day’s progression. As night falls, this facade, a latticework of vertical white aluminum elements, shines like an urban beacon, broadcasting the vibrant pulse within and the majestic alamo tree that welcomes both regulars and newcomers.
Upon entry, one can’t help but feel embraced by the vestibule, setting the stage before plunging into the reception. This area is more than just a lobby; it’s a living gallery, a tribute to Arkham’s journey. Itzio Berberena’s mural stands out, offering a personal interpretation of the Arkham universe, where history and art merge.
Exploring The Asylum is an ongoing journey of discovery. Doors, seemingly hiding worlds of their own, lead to spaces ranging from the intimate to open-air illuminated courtyards, playing with light, shadows, greenery, and the occasional patter of rain.
The workshop is undoubtedly The Asylum’s soul. Its high ceilings and open design reflect Arkham’s essence: a collaborative, dynamic space, always evolving, and showcasing the true muscle behind Arkham – its people. From here, one can see how every space in the building is interconnected, from private rooms with panoramic views to corners designed for relaxation and leisure.
Collaboration is key for Arkham. In every nook of The Asylum, the imprint of collaborators is evident, such as Pentágono Art, which adds a dreamlike dimension, and Esrawe Studio, weaving unique tales through their furniture designs. Just to name a couple, as dozens of creators have aided in making this dream a reality.
In essence, The Asylum is more than just an architectural structure; it’s a statement, a testament to Arkham Projects’ commitment to turning dreams and visions into tangible spaces. It’s the ideal stage for dreamers, makers, and visionaries, showing that the everyday can, and should, be extraordinary.
