Aditya Birla Chemicals Offices – Mumbai
AAD CONSULTANTS designed the Aditya Birla Chemicals offices in Mumbai as a vibrant homage to chemistry, uniting three distinct entities with cohesive spaces infused with scientific motifs and identity-driven colors.
We shape our spaces; thereafter they shape us.” This guiding belief forms the foundation of AAD Works, and nowhere is it more vividly expressed than in the design of this 30,000 sq.ft office for the leading chemical giant, M/s Aditya Birla Chemicals Ltd. The project presented a unique challenge — creating a cohesive workplace for three distinct entities, each with its own identity, yet sharing a common ethos and space for the first time.
The design emerged as an Ode to Chemistry. The benzene ring became the unifying motif, recurring across materials, patterns, and spatial elements. Each entity was assigned a signature color, inspired by the periodic table, subtly woven into the flooring, ceilings, and walls — while a fourth neutral hue unified the shared spaces.
Art and science intertwined throughout the office: a sculptural installation of floating, color-filled test tubes recreated the periodic table; molecular structures adorned walls; and even the cafeteria ceiling featured repurposed chemical packing crates. Signage, graphics, and artwork echoed the language of chemistry, from symbols to molecular forms.
The result is a workspace that celebrates scientific spirit through design — transforming an office into an experiential narrative of discovery, collaboration, and identity, perfectly embodying AAD Works’ philosophy that design, once shaped, in turn shapes us.
