The Pinterest offices in Sydney creatively intertwine local Australian themes with bespoke design, crafting an inspiring hub that captures the essence of the country while fostering innovation and collaboration.
Step inside Pinterest’s new Australian HQ and you’ll feel like you’ve been dropped into the physical version of a Pinterest board, but not just any board, this one is unmistakably Australian.
A hub designed to foster creativity and innovation, the space is a patchwork of distinct themes that mirror the diverse natural and cultural identity of Australia.
Drawing inspiration from Dorothea Mackellar’s poem, My Country, each zone tells a different story: warm earthy tones and textured finishes evoke the red centre of Uluru; lush greens and organic forms bring the Daintree Rainforest to life; soft, coastal hues recall the laid-back charm of Byron Bay; while classic tiles and breezy arches nod to the Bondi Pavilion.
With over ten different floor finishes seamlessly woven together, the result is a cohesive yet eclectic environment, where every corner sparks inspiration, and every step feels like a scroll through your most beautifully curated board.
MPA were engaged early in the process by Pinterest, with close collaboration between Pinterets’s US-based team and MPA local delivery and consultant teams. Navigating global expectations while ensuring the space met Australian requirements called for agility, trust, and strong communication. MPA worked closely with architects, Gensler, services consultants, Aston Consulting, and project managers, JLL to manage early-stage challenges, including producing shop drawings before architectural documentation was finalised and prototyping custom elements to meet Pinterest’s unique vision.
Local references ground the space in place and purpose, but it’s the carefully coordinated bespoke joinery and our obsessive attention to detail that truly set this project apart, delivering a result Pinterest was thrilled with.
