Gensler’s Greenberg Traurig Offices in Chicago harmoniously blend contemporary design and the area’s industrial heritage, creating a dynamic, amenity-rich workspace that enhances collaboration while reflecting the firm’s legacy of excellence.
When 60-year-old multinational law firm Greenberg Traurig relocated from Chicago’s Loop to Fulton Market, the firm saw an opportunity to collaborate with Gensler to rethink the traditional law office within one of the city’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving neighborhoods. The move represented a chance to create a workplace experience that reflects the firm’s legacy of excellence while embracing a more contemporary, people-centered approach.
Spanning across four floors of the Gensler-designed 360 North Green, the design is organized into distinct zones that balance professionalism with approachability, integrating elevated materials and warm detailing that feel refined yet welcoming. Social hubs and gathering spaces encourage cross-team connection, while client-facing areas elevate the visitor experience through curated amenities and a destination-like atmosphere. By blending hospitality-driven design with advanced technology, the office supports contemporary workstyles and workflows, offering an agile, high-performing environment that adapts to the needs of a prestigious law firm.
Inspired by Fulton Market’s live-work-play character and industrial heritage, the workplace was crafted to reinforce and propel Greenberg Traurig’s family-oriented culture. A variety of unique spaces encourage mentorship, collaboration, and spontaneous interaction, while quiet rooms and private spaces provide the discretion and focus essential to the profession. Unique branding is embedded throughout the office as a reflection of the sights and scenes of the surrounding neighborhood. References to iconic signage, historic building materials, and the evolution of mercantile technologies create rich, full-coverage textures while the Fulton Market history unfolds vertically at each stair landing through a curated progression of pattern and color wash. Each floor has access to spacious balconies, prioritizing access to the outdoors for moments of respite and rejuvenation. The office feels energized at every scale to elevate both high-performance work and the relationships that drive the firm forward.
Situated within a culturally rich and active community destination, the Chicago office has become a key touchpoint within Greenberg Traurig’s global network. Functioning as both an anchor that showcases the firm’s brand and a hub for client engagement and local partner relationships, the design reflects a modern vision for the legal sector.
