  • In one of Sofia’s most dynamic business districts, within a Class A building offering sweeping views of Vitosha Mountain, DA Architects have transformed a 2,000m² office for international trading company Plus500 into a workplace that truly puts the employee at its center.

The fast-growing company, focused on attracting and retaining young talent, sought after a design that not only meets global standards, but also surpasses them. The architects responded by making the three existing terraces with panoramic views the emotional and social core of the office.

Work zones are calm and neat – light color palette, abundant natural daylight, acoustic panels and height-adjustable ergonomic desks create an environment optimized for focus and comfort. In deliberate contrast, collaboration, relaxation and break-out areas are colorful, lively and expressive.

The heart of the office is undeniably the large Café – a multifunctional entertainment room designed to accommodate the entire team. It offers various settings from theatrical style seating to bar tables and lounge sofa complimented by exposed concrete walls behind decorative metal frames with generous planting. Three high-end coffee machines and beer tap turn the space into an urban café rather than a corporate kitchen.

The term ‘active rest’ is elevated to a new concept. A lounge with an 85-inch screen, PlayStation, wooden football table, party audio corner with headphones, yoga area and suspended gymnastic rings and monkey bars that encourage movement and employees’ wellbeing. Ergonomics extend far beyond the desk – the entire interior encourages people to change posture and setting throughout the day.

Biophilic design is fundamental – plants frame every zone, natural wooden parquet flows continuously, use of recycled materials and textured acoustic panels add warmth. Each meeting room receives its own identity through combinations of timber, colored felt panels, feature lighting and subtle branding. The reception is not a corporate façade but a direct reflection of the company’s priorities – welcoming and intentional office with an emphasis on the social connection and spaces.

The outcome is an office where employees don’t merely work – they communicate, build friendships, grow professionally and enjoy themselves. The enthusiastic and positive reaction after the relocation is the sincerest validation of a project that doesn’t follow trends but sets new standards for wellbeing and productivity in Bulgaria.
