NBC Universal Offices – Chicago
The NBC Universal offices in Chicago harmoniously integrates cutting-edge TV studios and a dynamic newsroom within the NBCU Tower, creating an efficient workspace that prioritizes staff wellness and collaboration.
Design Republic led the consolidation of NBCUniversal’s Local News and Local Telemundo operations within the NBCU Tower, bringing TV studios, the newsroom, and associated technical production and office spaces onto the 2nd floor and a partial 4th floor.
Extensive visioning and programming with NBCU’s internal team — alongside architect of record Partners by Design — drove a leaner footprint and sharper operational efficiency. When conflicting departmental priorities turned value engineering into a central challenge, Design Republic partnered with NBCU leadership on creative material selections that cut costs without touching design intent.
A standout feature, the “Speakeasy,” offers staff a river-view lounge and collaboration space that doubles as a shootable location for special broadcasts. The result is a workspace built for high-intensity news production, staff wellness, and daylight-filled collaboration alike.
