Sudcorp Offices – Quito
Contract Workplaces designed Sudcorp’s offices in Quito, Ecuador, organizing the headquarters around fluid, curved forms, flexible open workstations, and floor-to-ceiling glass partitions that connect the interior to terraces and panoramic views.
Sudcorp is an Ecuadorian company dedicated to food technology that is currently in a phase of consolidation and international expansion of its brand. After operating in a reduced and compartmentalized space that generated serious inefficiencies in daily operations, the company required a shift toward flexibility, process integration, and employee well-being. To support this cultural transformation and accommodate the growing structure of its team, Sudcorp entrusted Contract Workplaces with the design and construction of its new corporate headquarters.
The project was developed on a 285 m² floor on the 3rd floor of the modern Awki Plaza commercial and office complex in Quito, Ecuador. This new location stands out for its natural surroundings and contemporary architecture, with spacious private terraces and privileged views.
The proposal was structured around the concepts of fluidity and organic connectivity. This was spatially translated into the use of curved lines and sinuous forms, visible in the central entrance island, modular furniture, lighting fixtures, and patterns on the glazed fronts, which intuitively guide circulation and break with the rigidity of the traditional office model. An indoor-outdoor integration was also proposed, connecting the operational area with the terraces through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass partitions that maximize natural light and take advantage of the area’s magnificent panoramic views.
In the layout distribution, zoning was established between common-use areas and restricted-use areas intended for management. The entrance was conceived as a dynamic space, with a lounge area and a hot desk for informal work, which connects visually and spatially with the operational area, organized as an open space with 16 fully flexible workstations and no assigned desks. It also includes phone booths for private conversations or focused work and a meeting room. The enclosed laboratory was integrated next, with its own collaborative space. Meanwhile, the common-use cafeteria was located on the covered terrace and is equipped with armchairs and tables for sharing.
The restricted-access area, meanwhile, houses two enclosed offices for Management and the Boardroom, equipped with a comprehensive videoconferencing system. All of these spaces are directly connected to a private-use terrace, equipped with its own cafeteria.
Color and materiality played a fundamental role in reinforcing the brand image. To this end, a warm base of light wood was proposed, elegantly contrasting with graphite-toned metalwork and exposed technical ceilings. Color accents were applied to the upholstery of chairs and curved benches within the corporate palette of gray, green, and blue. Acoustic comfort was ensured through high-traffic carpets, textile panels in meeting rooms, and areas with suspended ceilings that improve acoustic absorption in open spaces.
The result is a functional, dynamic, and luminous work environment, prepared to support the company’s corporate evolution and project its brand to the rest of the world.
