Technology Company Office in Kiev, Ukraine
Here’s a pretty interesting project in Kiev designed by architect Antonina Kaplia:
“Task was to breathe new life and function into the building and at the same time to keep its initial industrial style.
The concept of the reconstruction was to penetrate deep into the strict constructivism (soviet modernism) with fresh air, lightness of forms and elements of Nature, to create synergy of rational and irrational, to integrate Life spring into the product of technology progress of Man, to permeate through Artificial not destroying but leaving the trail of Genuine, adding and reviving.
Main expression of ‘New life’ became Green which appears on different surfaces and in various interpretations everywhere. These are vertical green columns near reception desk, Green cube right in the middle of the office floor, Green wall-fence by entrance, shrubs spring through the metal terrace, Green hills with trees growing through the concrete floor surface and Green glades on the roof.
Layout of the office floors is an open space, glass partitions between rooms and as much air as possible. White furniture serves sedate and calm background. Ceiling partially remains in its initial pattern – rib panels. From time to time it is broken-up with pipes, wires and other communications. And finally the ceiling transforms into the wooden waves and continues as bionic bench, which floats under the floor and appears a center of guest area. This area could be used as cinema hall, training room and master classes platform. Involvement and cross spreading are the main features of the project.”
