Florence Knoll Table Desks
from Knoll
Florence Knoll 1961. With her typical modesty, Florence Knoll described her own line of desks as the “meat and potatoes” which had to be provided. “I did it because I needed the piece of furniture for a job and it wasn’t there, so I designed it.” While this may have been the motivation for the 1961 Table Desk, the result is anything but a fill-in piece. Perfectly proportioned and flawlessly detailed, the design embodies Florence Knoll’s adherence to the teachings of her favorite mentor, Mies van der Rohe.
