ByteCubed Offices – Arlington
HKS designed the offices for rapidly growing technology consulting firm, ByteCubed, located in Arlington, Virginia.
ByteCubed was recently ranked number 46 in Inc. Magazine’s annual Inc. 5000 of 2017. Their headquarters is located in Crystal City, Virginia, a booming technology hub near the nation’s capital.
When the design team initially met ByteCubed, they were living in generic shared office space that did not support the culture they had, nor wanted to foster. It also didn’t convey any story to potential employees or clients about who they are.
The space has a sophisticated, professional feel to demonstrate that they are on solid ground as a company, while also expressing some excitement and drama, as they are in the business of innovating in the historically stale market of government contracting. The space is appropriate to host prominent government officials, while also inspiring and supporting the way young innovators work.
The design dedicates one third of the entire space for communal space, thus making employees more accepting of their reduced individual footprint. The space provides choice in where and how to work and socialize. Providing employees with the best tools for both work and blowing off steam, the result has been a more engaged, happier, and healthier team.
