Volunteers of America Offices – New York City
The Switzer Group have completed the office design for Volunteers of America located in New York City, New York.
Volunteers of America has been helping people for over a hundred years, growing organically in multiple locations as space became available. Their first exploration into creating a corporate office began by looking to consolidate and promote more collaboration among team members and efficiency between different departments within a central location in midtown. The client wanted to create a space that supported and fostered open dialogue, collaboration and a climate for attracting young talent.
The design was inspired by the heritage of the institution, with a twist and a fresh take on traditional materials. The Switzer Group’s approach sought to bring the richness of natural materials and the play of patterns into the large floorplate. Soft materials contrast with sleek monolithic elements inspired by the urban landscape of the city. Calm spaces dotted with points of interest were created throughout to promote collaboration.
