Avenue of the Champs Elysees (at address once home to Thomas Jefferson), and its architecture prompted the WeWork design team to preserve the existing Beaux-Arts style. The goal for this space is to create an interesting, contemporary contrast between the design team’s additions, in complement to the existing finishes.

For further inspiration, Yves Saint Laurent’s Jardins Majorelles in Marrakech, Morocco. The terracotta clay of the gardens surrounding the gardens, the painted blue concrete with pops of yellow, the greenery of the palms and cacti plants; All of these colors and materials have been incorporated into the interiors of WeWork Champs Elysees.

Keeping all peripheral walls white, the design team added floating pantry islands and other built-in components that are very sculptural in nature. This is achieved by form or by color / finish and materials. Apart from the pantry islands, the design team also designed fitted ping pong tables, conference room tables and coffee tables.

The minimalistic intervention was made possible. Very few architectural additions were made, including the wrought-iron spiral staircase and fireplaces throughout.

Since the space did not have any moldings, the team added velvet curtains for acoustical purposes and conceal the risk doors in certain lobbies. Linear fixtures with a light wash emphasize the sheen and lightness of the curtains.

The design team is thus seeking to create a narrative for the building, reflecting its origins, with atypical rooms and spaces throughout the floors, with an array of communal spaces including the ‘Tea Parlor’, ‘Library’ and ‘Dining Room’. Further amenities for the building include a wellness & meditation room; a recording & podcast studio; screening room; terrace; on-site gym and dedicated parking.
