Wondrium Offices – Chantilly
Gensler designed a space that inspires creativity with a strong brand identity for the Wondrium offices in Chantilly, Virginia.
As Wondrium’s mission is to offer the most diverse, mind-blowing, non-fiction learning experiences to the world, they needed a state-of-the-art headquarters that inspires and educates its employees to continue to create transformational content that shapes how the world learns. Wondrium connected with Gensler in 2018 when they decided it was time to find a new home, making it Gensler’s quest to ensure Wondrium’s next workplace reflected its values as an educational trailblazer.
Gensler worked with Wondrium throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, pivoting layouts and plans to accommodate a hybrid work schedule while creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for employees to come together. In doing so, making the office a destination rather than an obligation was of the utmost priority. The client’s new workplace was designed to be nearly 100 percent dynamic, focusing on the ambiance and fluidity of the workplace, designing a concept built on collaboration and variety.
The new space offers a selection of spaces depending on how an employee wants to work. Closed conference rooms for large private meetings, smaller offices dedicated to subject matter experts, researchers, and thinkers for head-down focus work, spacious meeting rooms, and lounge areas to relax and step away from work duties can all be found across Wondrium’s two-floor footplate.
It was crucial that the design team struck the right tone with the types of spaces and design it chose to implement. Unlike Wondrium’s previous office, the team opted to immerse employees in brand moments with an entrance that evokes a welcoming living room and other design elements that absorbed visitors into the rich history and culture of the company.
