The Socio-Environmental Institute (ISA) is a non-governmental organization whose objective is to defend social, collective and diffuse goods and rights related to the environment, cultural heritage, and the rights of indigenous peoples in Brazil.

Since 1994, ISA has been operating with a traditional structure, but in 2021, it underwent a major change in leadership that brought new proposals for the way of working. These changes also reflected in the physical spaces, which now must foster encounters between people and not just be a workspace, especially with the implementation of hybrid work.

The project concept stems from ISA’s essence, the human relationship of the work they carry out, and the deep connection with the environment. Thus, the environment, together with the culture of indigenous peoples, was the project’s approach.

The office was designed dynamically, creating open and collaborative spaces among work areas to encourage interaction among the entire team. In addition, the created spaces seek to bring indigenous culture and nature into the built environment, whether through the use of natural materials or manual products made by indigenous peoples.

Thus, the project combines functionality with culture, connecting people with the space and their everyday lives, bringing indigenous culture and nature into the workspace.
