MBL Architects designed a colourful and functional office extension for WorkBetter co-working in Sofia, Bulgaria, featuring a journey through different space mission themes, incorporating art and vintage in one.
Due to the enormous interest to work in the creative environment of WorkBetter, the co-working urged the need to expand and find a new sub-location in Sofia, Bulgaria. MBL Architects were appointed to collaborate again and design the new extension. Architect’s mission was to bring fresh ideas on the table, but also to incorporate the four main elements of WorkBetter’s aesthetic: exposed concrete, mental, vintage furniture, and art!
The new sub-location accommodates 120 workstations, separated in both open plan offices and private suites, lounge areas, meeting rooms, and phone booths. WorkBetter kept its iconic flair to diverse lounge areas that can serve multiple purposes. The new space offers soft seating areas that are ideal for non-formal meetings, lunch/mid-day break gatherings with colleagues, but also for peaceful work in solitude time. The versatile environment is one of the crucial details in the design that attracts occupants.
The highlight of the interior is the painted exposed services in WorkBetter’s branded colour, defining the walking path, balancing the interior, and creating a unique look. Another key feature is the Art in all its forms. MBL Architects kept the solar theme but twisted it gently to space missions’ theme in personalised wall murals and decorations.
