5.11 Tactical Offices – Costa Mesa
Hendy designed the 5.11 Tactical offices as an innovative and collaborative place for work in Costa Mesa, California.
A core pillar of the recent rebrand for military, law enforcement and public safety personnel outfitter 5.11 Tactical is its new Costa Mesa, California-based headquarters, which serves as the embodiment of the company’s mission and vision, and as an employee destination of pride. Designed by renowned interior architectural design firm Hendy, the 39,650 square-foot space is a physical manifestation of 5.11 Tactical’s mission to create purpose-built gear for those who demand more of themselves for the greater good.
From the moment employees and visitors step into the headquarters, they are enveloped in an immersive brand experience. The elevator lobby features a pixelated world map, with the brand’s signature ‘target’ icon marking office and retail locations globally. The icons are magnetic, allowing for flexibility to add more locations as 5.11 Tactical expands. The target icon is also used as a way-finding graphic on the walls and floors in tribute to the brand’s outdoor enthusiast roots. A massive faux granite boulder stands as the reception centerpiece accenting the wood and steel front desk; and a corridor that emulates the experience of walking through a canyon runs throughout the office, incorporating natural elements into a retail-like environment that showcases their latest products.
At the heart of the space’s design lies an employee engagement area, connecting the team figuratively and literally through an intentional migration pattern that encourages walking wing to wing. Shared spaces like the employee café were outfitted with mobile furniture to enable customization depending on the occasion – whether it’s a quick team chat or a companywide All-Hands.
With their new headquarters, 5.11 Tactical has established a physical home and a cultural destination – a place where purpose and innovation converge and where the spirit of collaboration and excellence thrives. 5.11 Tactial’s passionate and talented employees are the bedrock of their iconic brand. As the brand continues to evolve, its employees are ready, unified and inspired to meet any challenge that comes their way.
