  • DONE Design to Build designed the Swiss Post offices with a focus on technology and sustainability in Lisbon, Portugal.

Done Design To Build (Done DTB), a company specialised in integrated design and construction, was chosen by the Swiss company Swiss Post. Considered the best postal service in the world for the last six years, and operating in the communications, logistics, financial and passenger transport sectors, to carry out an outstanding design and build project in Lisbon. This project aimed to create a state-of-the-art office in Portugal for Swiss Post’s IT services.

The building chosen to house this initiative was Edifício Castilho 2, located in the Portuguese capital. With a total area of 891 m2, this space was completely remodelled by Done DTB to meet Swiss Post’s specific needs. A notable achievement of this project was obtaining the BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-out Excellent certification, making it the first time this certification has been achieved in Portugal. The commitment to sustainability combined with technology, as well as the use of building materials and furniture of national origin, is evident.

The main premise was to design an office space focused on the well-being of the company’s main assets, namely its employees. The space was therefore designed using a more organic design with a strong presence of natural plants, which not only humanises it but also appeals to creativity in the various dynamics of use – both in terms of different ways of working and in terms of promoting multiple interactions and sharing.

As a result, 50 per cent of the space is used for leisure and informal work, including a games area and a terrace. There was great concern to think of the workplace as much more than that, in a “homie” trend that leads people to feel comfortable, with state-of-the-art technology, happy and creative just like when they are stimulated by the diversity of other places.

The interior design also reflects Swiss Post’s strong image and branding, with a strong predominance of the yellow colour associated with the company and incorporates authentic elements from Portugal, including the use of manufactured fabrics and the use of cork, standing out as a fusion of tradition and innovation.
