  • Okamura China has successfully established a distinctive display area in Shanghai, aligning with the ‘live office’ (we-labo) concept proposed by Okamura’s headquarters in Japan. This initiative aims to create an office environment that prioritizes employee well-being and optimizes work productivity.

Since this project is a live office and not just a showroom, it was important to create an office environment where the client could imagine how various pieces of furniture would actually be used. For example, large long tables that allow for conversation and communication, and flexible partitions that promote teamwork. At the same time, in order to create a comfortable working environment, the furniture in the lounge area was also considered to be compatible with work.

In order to ensure that working comfort goes hand in hand with a sense of space, the number of visually blocking walls has been reduced to create more spaciousness and to ensure that there is enough seating for staff.

The design incorporates a wide range of Okamura elements, reflecting Okamura’s dedication to research in the field of office space design and its relentless pursuit of furniture quality.
