  • Our clients foremost concern was maintaining a sense of community and culture. Our challenge was moving the team from a single floorplate to a space spread across four floors. They wanted their environment to support a feeling of closeness among teams that would now be physically further away from one another and they wanted to avoid creating a sense of hierarchy within their layout.

We implemented behavioural design techniques to drive people to central points. We have refined refreshment points on each floor but increased amenities in the clubhouse and meeting suite so traffic is directed upstairs during lunch, giving teams the opportunity to commune and to eat away from desks to prevent a feeling of burn out.

Other wellbeing features include a gym, shower facilities, bike storage, prayer and multifunctional rooms, fish tank, and biophilia. Desks were upgraded to sit-stand to support inclusivity, and tasks chairs are highly ergonomic Herman Miller. All floors are fully accessible and both light and temperature can be tailored for a multitude of uses or to benefit neurodiverse employees.

Our client’s team had loved their old workplace. They wanted their new office to feel like a natural evolution of the space they loved so much. To achieve this, we kept certain design features such as black doors and ironmongery, light woods from Havwoods, double glazed partitions and manifestations, cherished artworks, and of course, their beloved fish.

All new design elements are of the highest specification including design classics such as the Jenson chair from Walter Knoll and the Meis Van Der Roh day bed. We also included nods to the industrial heritage of the building such as the reclaimed ice lifter creating an eye catching and functional display in the reception.
