  • Good things often come in small packages. When Snehal Gadkari Jajoo, the Principal Architect & Interior Designer at S’thetic Design Studio, was tasked with designing a 630 sq ft lawyers office in Nashik, she knew it was all about packing a punch with storage, style and functionality. The client, a lawyer by profession, desired a space that brimmed with abundant natural light, prioritised minimalistic luxury that offered a seamless layout and aesthetics. As a result, the design language segues to natural elements and productive spaces that embrace understated luxury.

One enters the office via a strategically placed reception area that sets the theme for the rest of the workspace. It warmly greets visitors with a muted colour palette with an elegantly curved table adorned with a fluted design and arched niches showcases the clever usage of vertical space. Natural light floods the open workspace through large windows and is complemented by the gleaming reflection from the white flooring. An open-layout workstation abuts the waiting area. Glass partitions segregate the private and social zones without making the office seem claustrophobic.

Considering the restricted square footage, a sleek black metal and wood grid-style shelving unit has demarcated the two spaces while maintaining visual continuity. Small plants and sculptures are carefully curated on the shelf for an energising touch. Cleverly envisaged louvered storage below the desks ensures proper equipment ventilation, and its floating design adds a sense of visual lightness.

The executive cabin is placed parallel to the reception and slightly overlooking the open workstation space to maintain visual connectivity of guests/employees as required. Clean-lined wooden furniture and flooring take the centre stage in this space. The private meeting space is equipped with seamless, minimalist cabinetry and an Italian-designed desk that imbues a touch of quiet luxury. Veneer-clad shutters discreetly conceal a restroom door within a storage unit. Expansive windows and Raphis palm planted along the window adds a touch of nature into the cabin. A floor lamp, artwork and books displayed on the shelves communicate a sense of gravitas. The custom grey boucle sofa and a wall-mounted TV panel tie the look together. Automated zebra curtains manage sunlight and views, balancing privacy and openness effectively.

As this small cabin is placed towards the end of the office area, the team opted for a sleek artificial quartz desk by MOTTO group to save space. The flower bed adds a touch of nature, enhancing the serene atmosphere. Near the reception desk, subtly textured fluted wall panels with a smooth Duco finish discreetly house a common toilet and pantry, maintaining the office’s sleek appearance.

All furniture and details in the project were exclusively customised to align with the design vision perfectly. The office chairs were the only items purchased, chosen for their ergonomic comfort and practicality. The sofa fabric, sourced from D’Decor and flexible fluted panels from Treelam (Aretuza Collection)adds a luxurious touch to the bespoke interiors.

Every detail in this office blends practicality with aesthetic appeal, creating a welcoming environment for clients and inspiring employees. The careful selection of materials, thoughtful spatial planning, and commitment to integrating natural elements have resulted in a functional and elegant workspace, setting a new standard for modern office design.
