  • Elevating Spaces, Enhancing Experiences
Betfair Romania Development, the largest technology hub of Flutter Entertainment, recently transformed a 500 sqm breakout space into a multifunctional area designed for both daily work life and large-scale internal events. With a headcount of over 2,000 employees, the need for flexible, brand-aligned and engaging environments became more important than ever for the office space in Cluj-Napoca.

    From One-Dimensional to Multi-Purpose
Previously, the space served as a basic open plan area with a focus point stage at one end and a casual seating zone near the windows. During company-wide events, the entire area would be blocked: kitchens couldn’t be accessed, no one could walk through without disrupting the event, and the limited geometry of the room didn’t allow for additional seating or tables. Day-to-day use was constrained and lacked flexibility.

The Brief: Separation & Simultaneous Use
The client requested that the event area be reimagined with dual functionality: as an audience zone during all-hands meetings and as a lunch and collaboration space the rest of the time. In addition, they needed 1–2 separate kitchenettes to remain accessible during events, without interfering with the audience. A system for spatial separation between the event stage and the kitchen/coffee areas was also a key requirement.

Social Zones, Micro-Kitchens & Green Energy
The new layout features five kitchen areas instead of two, strategically distributed to support both informal gatherings and private conversations. The relaxation and food zones were relocated to the window side of the space, bringing in natural light and creating an active, uplifting vibe. Lush greenery—including cascading plants and a striking green installation made of vertical tree trunks forming a central table circle—transforms the space into a favorite gathering spot that’s as photogenic as it is functional.

    Impact: More Use, Less Interruption
The redesign has proven highly effective. Internal events can now take place without disrupting other employees, and the increased number of kitchen zones encourages organic interaction and collaboration throughout the day. The updated design not only reflects the company’s brand identity but also supports a sense of belonging, flexibility and return-to-office motivation across the team.
