Matrix Design’s Wisdom Tower B Show Flat in Hangzhou beautifully marries natural elegance with contemporary sophistication, inspired by the Qiantang River to create an inviting, dynamic urban oasis.
Shimao Wisdom Gate, in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District, overlooks the Qiantang River and stands near the Olympic Sports Center of the 2023 Asian Games. This Grade A 5A office complex integrates office spaces, apartments, retail areas, and a city park, with its two elegant twin towers serving as the centerpiece. The design of Tower B’s public lobby and 60th floor draws inspiration from the Qiantang River’s waves, blending natural elements with modern urban sophistication.
The Tower B lobby greets visitors with a seamless interplay of nature and technology. A sleek glass facade leads into a grand space featuring high ceilings and polished black marble floors in a minimalist black-and-white palette. The ceiling incorporates wave-inspired patterns, with stone textures reassembled into smooth, flowing curves that soften the structure and freeze the motion of water into a timeless design. The elevator lobby, encased in glossy ivory porcelain stone, radiates a luminous texture reminiscent of water-polished stones. Matte gold metallic accents and a streamlined tech-integrated entrance enhance the atmosphere of understated luxury. Inside the elevators, black stone flooring with white veining echoes retreating waves, while leather and wood finishes add warmth, reflecting Hangzhou’s balance of history and modernity.
On the 60th floor, the design reflects water’s adaptability, creating a harmonious and inclusive space. The circular layout features matte gold materials that softly diffuse light, while ripple-like ceiling patterns evoke tranquility and balance. Sculptural installations inspired by tides create focal points, blending abstract forms with dynamic geometry. A matte wooden table and ivory chairs provide a minimalist yet elegant centerpiece, complemented by leather textures and rich ebony accents. Sofas feature cut-edge and curved details that integrate Eastern harmony with modern aesthetics, while ivory furnishings echo classical elegance. Custom light fixtures, inspired by swirling fishing nets, combine soft silk threads with metal frameworks for a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional forms.
