  • Set in the penthouse of a converted factory building on the DUMBO waterfront, this newly completed 10,000-square-foot office and 8,000-square-foot wraparound terrace redefines the modern workplace. Designed for a financial investment company seeking to blend functionality with a hospitality-driven aesthetic, the space strikes a balance between elevated design, technical precision, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections—all set against the Manhattan skyline.

Tasked with space planning, technical coordination, and approvals, Shadow Architects collaborated closely with the company’s interior designers, engineers, and acoustic consultants to bring the vision to life. With the penthouse location presenting acoustic challenges from rooftop mechanical noise, the firm implemented rigorous sound-isolating construction to create a refined yet tranquil work environment.

A statement horseshoe-shaped bar welcomes guests upon entry, featuring Calacatta Viola countertops, dark oak veneers, and brass detailing. Custom millwork and soft furnishings throughout the space add warmth and sound absorption. The design thoughtfully retains industrial elements, such as refinished concrete floors, exposed mechanical systems, and original octagonal columns, seamlessly blending them with bespoke materials, high-end finishes, and innovative acoustic solutions.

The result? An office that doesn’t just function—it inspires, offering a dynamic, high-performance workspace with the ambiance of a private members’ club.
