  • Gensler partnered with global law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP to create a modern, design‑forward workplace that reflects how people work today. Located on the penthouse level of a Class A office building designed by Gensler in 2006 at 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City, the approximately 40,000‑square‑foot office represents nearly a 50% increase in space over the firm’s previous location. Informed by insights from Gensler’s 2026 Workplace Survey—which highlights a persistent gap between what employees need and what offices provide—the design strategy set out to close that divide by prioritizing wellbeing, collaboration, and high performance from day one.

The workplace embraces its site and context while delivering a bright, open environment defined by transparency and warmth. Extensive use of glass floods the office with natural light, while a refined palette of wood tones accented with gold and red details adds richness and warmth throughout. The arrival sequence begins with a glimmering elevator lobby, where custom CNC‑cut aluminum panels are backlit with LEDs to form a constellation pattern referencing the Avenue of the Stars. Inside, layered materiality evokes California’s landscape—from the rhythmic Cipollino Ondulato marble wall at reception and its lapped drywall and plaster ceiling, to a boardroom carpet inspired by the coastline and crafted from regenerated fishing nets. A relaxed lounge, illuminated by Disco sconces by Jordi Miralbell and Mariona Raventós, further supports moments of connection and respite.
