The Confidential Investment Firm Offices in Columbus, Ohio by Design Collective, masterfully integrates wellness and collaboration, creating a flexible workspace that enhances employee experience through thoughtful design and hospitality principles.
Driven by cultural shifts within the firm, their new office brings together identity, function, and experience to create a resilient workplace that elevates well-being, promotes collaboration, and advances organizational productivity. Lounge spaces, libraries, focused work areas, and settings for informal and formal meetings support evolving work styles, providing their employees with a range of environments for concentration, connection, and teamwork. A cohesive material palette and subtle brand motifs reinforce a strong collective identity while allowing the workplace to flex with changing schedules and team dynamics. Drawing from hospitality principles, the design incorporates destinations where employees and guests can work, meet, recharge, and connect in comfort.
Employee feedback revealed a critical need for improved environmental comfort, with 76% of surveyed staff identifying lighting levels and thermal control as concerns in their previous office. The resulting design prioritizes wellness through increased access to daylight, biophilic integration, outdoor connectivity, adjustable lighting, and enhanced thermal comfort systems that support a healthier workplace. Movement and migration are encouraged through the central connecting stair, while height-adjustable workstations and social spaces on both levels encourage employees to engage with varying levels of kinship, collaboration, and delight. The result is a hospitality-forward, communal environment with a refined personality that enhances employee experience and celebrates the firm’s identity.
